La Porte Decor Firm is a full-service decorating and design firm offering both contracting services and a line of handmade luxury decor. Through our boutique, we bring your desired aesthetic to life with handcrafted pieces, refined materials, and evocative details that blend artistry with function.
If there’s something you crave that we don’t yet create, we’ll personally curate or custom-design it—because your vision deserves to exist.
Who We Are
We are a woman-owned small business based in the heart of Canyon Lake, Texas. Much of the hands-on craftsmanship is done by our founder herself, whose eye for sensual detail and old-world beauty guides every creation.
For specialized or large-scale projects, we collaborate with a select network of carefully chosen artisans and subcontractors, each an expert in their craft. This ensures every project—no matter the scale—is completed with precision, passion, and unmistakable quality.
Our Style
Our work is deeply inspired by old French design, with three romantic variations:
- French Countryside – natural, serene, and charmingly imperfect
- Moody Victorian – dark, luxurious, and emotionally rich
- French Farmhouse – rustic simplicity with elevated grace
Each style evokes comfort, curiosity, and a sense of indulgence—a reflection of our belief that your space should be your escape, a sanctuary for the senses and the soul.
The Meaning Behind the Name
La Porte—French for “The Gate”—is both literal and symbolic. It represents an entryway to wherever your imagination longs to go… a passage to beauty, mystery, and the feeling of being utterly at home in your own fantasy.
Chris Zepeda - Founder & CEO
Chris has had a love of old elegance ever since she was young. When Chris was around nine years old, she visited her grandmother and instantly became obsessed with her peach Victorian guest room. When Chris returned home, she worked tirelessly to transition her own bedroom into a beautiful, light yellow, floral oasis. In this space Chris spent many days imagining herself in glorious dresses, with large matching hats, and eating decadent desserts. Chris has since carried that love for old living with her, finding ways to get a taste here and there through watching period drama series and exploring French cuisine whenever she gets the chance.
Through life’s journeys (great and small, beautiful and challenging) Chris has developed a love of tinkering and woodworking. It is where she has found her peace. Being a paramedic and mother of four, she has come to find peace invaluable. “For me, serenity is when my mind quiets with the busyness of my hands while creating something new, and my eyes getting to watch it come to life.” - Chris. Throughout her life, these things have never changed: her love for all things old European, and her vision, creativity, and relentless drive to create. Chris has a strong passion for seeing not what something is, but for what it could be. This is why she created La Porte Decor.
