La Porte Decor Firm is a full-service design & contracting firm
focused on shaping atmosphere through detail. We bring together craftsmanship, material, and aesthetic direction to create spaces and pieces that feel intentional, layered, and quietly indulgent.
We do more than build or decorate. Every project is approached as a complete composition, where proportion, texture, and the smallest decisions begin to shift how a space is experienced. From custom built elements to curated decor, each piece is created with purpose and a clear sense of how it will settle into the room, not just visually, but in presence.
If there is something you have in mind that we do not yet offer, we will design and create it with you. The goal is not simply to make something custom, but to shape something that feels immersive, refined, and entirely your own.
Who We Are
Based in Canyon Lake, Texas, La Porte is built on hands on craftsmanship and a distinct eye for detail. Much of the work is carried out directly by the founder, guided by a preference for rich materials, subtle contrast, and an old world sense of beauty that leans toward the moody and the intimate.
For larger or more specialized projects, we work alongside a carefully selected network of artisans and subcontractors. Each is chosen with intention, ensuring every element of the project carries the same level of care, precision, and quiet control.
Our Specialty Styles
Our work draws deeply from old French design, expressed through three distinct directions:
~ French Countryside
Soft, inviting, and quietly elegant. A sense of comfort shaped by natural textures and the understated indulgence of rural life.
~ Moody Victorian
Dark, layered, and atmospheric. Rich tones, antique influence, and a depth that leans toward the intimate and the dramatic.
~ French Farmhouse
Simple at its core, but never plain. Worn textures, subtle character, and a kind of beauty that feels lived in rather than placed.
Each style is less about rules and more about feeling, shaped to draw you in, hold your attention, and stir something you can’t quite ignore.
The Meaning Behind The Name
La Porte—French for “The Gate”—is both literal and symbolic. It represents the threshold between reality and reverie. An alluring escape to beauty, mystery, and seduction.

Chris Zepeda - Founder & CEO
Through both the beautiful and the demanding seasons of life, Chris developed a deep connection to working with her hands. What began as a place of quiet became something more focused. A discipline shaped by repetition, precision, and an eye that does not easily overlook detail.
Woodworking became more than an outlet. It became a way of understanding how material responds, how form takes shape, and how something built with intention begins to carry presence.
Chris is not only a craftsman, but a designer by trade. She has a natural instinct for seeing beyond what something is, and into what it could become. Each piece and each space is approached with both structure and vision, where function is met with atmosphere and every detail is considered.
Her work is influenced by old European design, drawn toward depth, contrast, and texture. It leans into the moody and the refined, where spaces feel layered, immersive, and quietly commanding.
La Porte was created at that intersection. The discipline of building, and the instinct to shape how something is experienced.
